Match Reports

Under 13s 5-0 Stanton United

Birstall went out on Wednesday night to play their last match of the season. They were in a winning position from the start as Stanton had only got 10 players. It did not make a lot of difference to either side. Tom hill was the first to score to put Birstall in the lead. Stanton carried on battling and you would never have known they had only got 10 players they were all over the place. Joe Gamble was in the right place for Callum Wilson to pass the ball to him so he could score to make it 2-0 to Birstall. After a great save from goalie Mark Evans it was time for one of Maccauley Bott long and hard kicks but as with some of his kicks it went high and over. So Mitchell Neal had a go at getting his first goal of the season but was still unlucky as he could not quite find the net as half time was called. The second half started just as slow as the first half until Stanton went on the run with the ball and were almost at Birstall’s goal when James Glover came running in and saved the ball and sent it back down the pitch towards Stanton’s goal for Mitchell Neal to have another try at goal but still managed to miss the goal and it went out for a corner and Stanton’s goalie made a great save and stopped another goal. The goalie gave one big kick and it went just over the half way line so Birstall sent it back down towards the goal to give Mitchell Neal yet another attempt at goal but still he managed to miss. He looked set not to score this season so Jake Flower had a go at goal but only ended up rolling on the ground with the goalie so Maccauley Bott thought he would have a go from the half way line but still he never managed to find the goal. So it was now time for Birstall to have a change of goalie so Mark Evans came out of goal and Bradley Gamble went into goal and also time for Mitchell Neal to have one last attempt at getting his first goal of the season. So it was left to Jake Flower to pass to Mitchell Neal just outside of the box and Mitchell Neal to put it into the back of the net to make it 3-0 to Birstall. Stanton carried on playing very well and keep Birstall on their toes but not enough because Josh Hill managed to sneak another goal past Stanton’s goalie and Nathan Waldren did much the same to make it 5-0 to Birstall. Stanton keep on fighting and a change of goal keeper for Stanton made things more interesting when Birstall’s goal keeper had a try at getting a goal and only just missed it. It was then time to call full time on the last match of the season. Goal scores were Tom Hill, Joe Gamble, Mitchell Neal, Josh Hill and Nathan Waldren .

Netherhall Diamonds 1-12 Under 13s

With the season coming to an end and Birstall united finishing diversion 5 winners after losing just one match all season. The match got off to a slow start after Birstall’s defeat in France last weekend but James Glover was on top form again and scored Birstall’s first goal of the match. It was just what Birstall needed. After a good save by Mark Evans it was left to James Glover to set up Callum Wilson for the 2nd goal of the match.

Netherhall fought hard to keep control of the ball but Maccauley Bott had other ideas and decided that his kick was going into the back of the net even with the goalie jumping high to stop it . It was the 3rd goal of the match.

James Glover wanted more goals for Birstall but his high kick went sailing over the bar. Netherhall made a break with the ball and were rewarded with a goal to make it 3-1 to Birstall. Back to the centre and it was Mitchell Neal’s turn to try and get himself on the score sheet but never managed to find the back of the net and it went wide. Netherhall took control of the ball and Birstall had to battle to get the ball back. Adam Hopkins was left to score Birstall’s 4th and 5th goal of the match and at half time the score was 5-1 to Birstall united.

Second half started well after Jake Flower went for a goal and hit the post. Just a short time later Nathan Waldren made it 6-1 to Birstall. Now with Birstall working their magic and hell bent on finishing the season with a bang Adam Hopkins got his hat trick and the 7th goal of the match for Birstall but Birstall were not finished yet as Jake Flower came along and scored his first goal of the match to make it 8-1 to Birstall .

Birstall now had another thing on their minds with Jake Flower scoring the 99th goal of the season it was Nathan Walden to score the 100th goal of the season to make it 9-1 to Birstall but it was not finished there he went on to score again to make it 10-1 to Birstall . The whole game Netherhall diamonds fought as hard as they could to stop Birstall scoring the goals but along came Josh Hill and got his foot behind the ball but it went the wrong side of the net. Josh Hill is not one to be put off very easy and after a nice cross from Maccauley Bott Josh Hill got his much deserved goal of the match but yet again Birstall were not quiet finished and with the twinkle toes of Callum Wilson made it 12-1 to Birstall united and a very good match for both teams. Goal scores were James Glover (1) Callum Wilson (2) Adam Hopkins (3) Nathan Waldren (3) Maccauley Bott, Josh Hill, and Jake Flower

Birstall united u13’s v Barlastone St Giles (9 Mar 08)

Birstall went out to play their 17th match of the season. A very scary start to the match for the stand-in goalie Callum Wilson with Barlastone making an early break for goal but luckily missing. Birstall seemed to calm down well and started playing. A nice pass from Maccauley Bott to Nathan Waldren gave Birstall their first goal of the match. Back to the centre only for Birstall to get the ball back and score their second goal of the match thanks to Adam Hopkins. Birstall keep the ball rolling and keep on trying but Barlastone goalie was on his toes and managed to keep the ball out of the back of the net until Adam Hopkins came running along to give Birstall their 3rd goal of the match. Birstall were playing well till Maccauley Bott pushed one of the other team’s players in the back and gave them a free kick but it never seemed to put Maccauley Bott off his stride much as he came back and had a shoot at goal but missed and clipped the goal post.

A good kick from Barlastone’s goal keeper sent the ball back down the pitch only for Josh Hill to send it back down but it went out for a corner for Birstall which was once again saved well by Barlastone’s goalie. Barlastone keep the game alive with a shot at goal but unfortunately it went wide and a little while later they were rewarded with their first goal of the match to make it 3-1 to Birstall.

James Glover hands got in the way of the game which gave Barlastone a free kick and another attempt at goal. After another foul on Barlastone and another free kick and another try Barlastone got their 2nd goal of the match to put them in a good position to win the game just in time for the whistle for half time. Second half kicks off with Jake Flower getting his first goal disallowed but Jake Flower was not going to stop trying and once again made a shoot at goal but it went over the goal instead. Birstall knew they had to keep trying so that they could stay ahead and after a corner a goal by Joe Gamble made it 4-2 to Birstall. Soon after a change to the goalie Callum Wilson came out of goal looking for a goal. Callum Wilson crossed the ball in front of the goal but Jake Flower’s head was just not in the right place to head it into the goal. With a lot of action around the Barlastone goal it was left to Maccauley Bott to slip the ball through Barlastone goalies legs to make it 5-2 to Birstall but Birstall were not finished yet and it looked like Mark Green was going to score his first goal of the season and claim the £20 his dad has always promised him if he scores by running up half of the pitch with the ball but he was stopped just short of the goal so Joe Gamble picked the ball up to score and make it 6-2 to birstall and make it another good win for Birstall goal scores were Joe Gamble (2) Adam Hopkins (2) Nathan Waldren and Maccauley Bott.

Under 13s 7-0 Bushby United

Birstall united 15th match of the season and they came up against Bushby united . The match started off very exciting with goal keeper Mark Evans making a breath taking save with his fingers and sent the ball wide .

Bushby took the corner and mark once again managed to push the ball over the goal post and evade another attempt at goal. It was now time for Birstall to settle down to play. After a good show of football Callum Wilson managed to fool the goal keeper by passing the ball though his legs to score Birstall’s 1st goal of the match . Bushby then went after the ball but Mark Green was coving the back well so he managed to stop Bushby having a shoot at goal. Bushby were on their toes and back up the felid and Birstall found themselves chasing Bushby to stop them scoring a goal . Nathan Waldren got his fast legs going and took the ball up the field and passed the ball to Callum Wilson who scored Birstall’s 2nd goal of the match . Back to the centre and Birstall broke away only to be stopped in their tracks but with a foul on Thomas gave Birstall a free kick and Chris Wilkinson took the free kick and with one big kick it rolled its way into the goal to make it the 3rd goal of the match . By this time Bushby were fighting for a goal by keeping the ball away from Birstall but Callum Wilson had other ideas and had a try at getting his hat trick only for the ball to go wide . Second half and Bushby keep trying but they were only getting as far as Josh Hill and Chris Wilkinson . It was now time for James Glover to get in on the action to make it 4-0 to Birstall and with a open goal Bradley Gamble made it 5-0 to Birstall . Both teams carried on playing well and once again Bushby let their guard down so Joe Gamble could make it 6-0 to Birstall . Birstall were now on a roll but Bushby’s goal keeper was not going to let Birstall have 3 goals in such a little time and managed to save Birstall’s attempted at goal. It went out for a corner and Bradley Gamble took the corner and James Glover managed to make it 7-0 to Birstall and with another clean sheet for Birstall it ended 7-0 to Birstall united with goals from Callum Wilson (2) James Glover (2) Chris Wilkinson Bradley Gamble and Joe Gamble.

Saffron Dynamo 1-3 Under 13s

This was to be the hardest game to date for Birstall united as they came face to face with Saffron Dynamo’s . Bradley gamble started the match of to a good start with a early shot at goal only minutes into the game . Saffron were going all out to make sure Birstall  did not score. Birstall were passing the ball all over the pitch but could not get through Saffron’s defences. James glover went on the run with the ball passing to Callum Wilson. Callum Wilson takes a shot and just misses the goal. Birstall get a corner with Bradley Gamble taking it but still no goal. Saffron managed to keep Birstall on there toes for most of the first half with there goalie making lots of saves .second half and both teams keep trying. Birstall came close to giving a goal away when Maccauley Bott went to save the ball and headed it towards his own goal but luckily for Birstall it went high and over. Birstall went on the attack again with James glover just clipping the post. One of Saffron’s players were brought down by Birstall  goalie mark Evans and Chris Wilkinson giving Saffron a penalty. Mark Evans stood tall but Saffron managed to slip it past him and score the first goal of the game putting Saffron into the lead and at that point Saffron had managed to do what no other team had managed and that was to beat Birstall. Birstall were not going to go down without a fight and with only 15 minutes left Birstall stepped it up a gear and went on the attack. A few minutes later after quiet a lot of ball passing Callum Wilson brought Birstall back into the game with a star goal making it 1-1. Its back to the centre and Birstall keep going to be rewarded with yet another goal from Callum Wilson making it 2-1 to Birstall. Saffron keep hold of the ball and race back up the field to try and make it 2-2 but Birstall defend it and send it back down the pitch ,it goes out for a corner. Both teams get ready and once again Callum Wilson is in place and makes it 3-1 to Birstall. With only 6 minutes left to go Saffron try there best to get another goal but just never manage to do so. The game finish 3-1 to Birstall  united with Callum Wilson scoring all 3 goals and Birstall still being unbeaten.

Netherhall Diamonds 1-4 Under 13s

Birstall united went out to play their 11th match of the season hoping that it would not be their first loss of the season. As the match got under way it looked like their fears would come true. Jake took the first corner of the match and skimmed the goal .Just a short while later Maccauley crossed the ball in front of the goal but no one was there to collect it. Another corner but still no goal the goalkeeper must of thought it was his lucky day . Birstall lost control of the ball to Netherhall Diamonds who made of up the field with it towards Birstall goal but Chris managed to stop them in their tracks and kick it back down the field to Maccauley . Maccauley took a shot at goal but it went high and out. The keeper took the kick straight to one of his players but Nathan took the ball of him and passed it to James who shot and scored Birstall’s 1st goal. Netherhall then went on the attack but Birstall managed to get the ball back with the help of James who crossed it to Adam and he shot and made the score 2-0 to Birstall . Netherhall never gave up and keep trying but Adam managed to fool the keeper and make it 3-0 to Birstall. Netherhall were given a chance when they got a corner but never managed to score from it. A shot from Callum went wide which was a relive to Netherhall. At the start of the second half A foul on Maccauley gave Birstall a penalty . Mark green was the one to take it but unfortunately missed . Netherhall were rewarded for their hard work when they had a goal from a corner which brought the score to 3-1 to Birstall. Then Birstall went on the run with Maccauley passing to Adam, Adam passing to James , James passing to Bradley and Bradley blasting another goal home for Birstall to make the score 4-1 . Again Netherhall tried to keep control of the ball but Birstall just beat them to it and it went out for a corner all of Birstall’s players got into place and Maccauley gave a little run in and shot a goal home for Birstall to make it 5-1 to them. Once again Netherhall went on the attack and were rewarded with their second goal of the match. Netherhall carried on trying but never managed to get another goal so it ended 5-2 to Birstall with 2 goals to Adam Hopkins 1 for James glover 1 for Bradley gamble and 1 for Maccauley Bott.
