Birstall United Vixens and Belles are the Girls Section of the Club.
The
teams have grown from an initial open day and the School Club
Link scheme and we are now
in the position of having 3 teams playing in the Leicester City & County
Girls Football League for the season 2007/08.
Last
season (2006/07) the Under 10's won the League Cup as well as the Brean Sands Tournament,
the Birstall International Festival and the Moira Tournament.
We have teams at Under
11's and at Under 13's but with future development we hope
to increase the age range to offer football to girls of all ages from Birstall
and the surrounding area.
Our
coaches are FA qualified and CRB checked.

Under
10 League Cup Winners
Birstall United Vixens finished off their first competitive season with an
emphatic 3 nil victory over the Vixens of Leicester City Ladies in the Under
10's league Cup final held at Oadby & Wigston as part of the Leagues
presentation day.
In the two previous meetings of these teams the honours have been even with a
draw on both occasions so it had all the making for a tight and close contest.
And that seemed to be the case as both teams started with passion and
determination to lift the cup.
However Birstall settled in the quickest and started to play attractive and
intelligent football that quite simply Leicester had no answer to.
Georgia Harris was superb in the middle while Emily Carnan and Bayley Kay
quickly snubbed out the few attacks that Leicester could put together. Birstall
began to command the game and it was simply a matter of time until the goal
came and when it did it was a goal truly fit for the occasion with Harris
picking the ball up from midfield and taking on two players before rocketing it
home from 20 yards to give the keeper no chance.
Half time came with Birstall totally in control and looking to increase their
control with more goals. Emily Gunn, back from injury caused problems for the
City defence all game and She found herself with time and space to turn in the
box and fire off a shot that, although the keeper managed to get a hand to the
Referee judged that it had crossed the line and the Birstall lead was doubled.
Gunn had a part to play in Birstall's third goal when She chased a seemingly
lost cause and pulled the ball back from the by line for Harris to smash in Her
second and seal the game for Birstall.
The final whistle saw celebration for the Vixens of Birstall who have proved
this season to be a team to reckon with and can only improve with more league
experience. Every player played their part in this game which was a magnificent
showpiece for girls football in the County

Brean Sands 2007
The Vixens have recently competed in the SCI Mitre Ultimatch
Easter Cup held at Brean Sands and the Under 10 Girls brought the trophy back up
the M5. Both teams competed with teams from across the Country in the heat of
the Bank Holiday weekend, the Under 12's came a respectable 6th out of 14 teams
while the Under 10's took the title after going unbeaten over the 2 days. All of
the girls received a trophy for competing which was presented at a celebrity
presentation evening on the Sunday night and it was an ironic coincidence that
the awards were presented by ex Leicester City star Steve Claridge who was
received warmly by the travelling Birstall supporters and who was pleased to see
a team from Leicester take the Cup.
A great weekend of football and entertainment for all those who
endured the coach journey in Bank Holiday traffic which was quickly forgotten
but not so the memories that will stay with the girls for many Years to come.
